Here's a bold-yet-true statement: Every kitchen should have an assortment of nonstick cookware. Having the right pan makes cooking a fried egg or some buttermilk pancakes totally fail-proof. Even beyond that, when it comes to tasks like steaming rice or simmering soup, nonstick cookware has a major advantage because it's so easy to clean up.
At the very least, I encourage you to buy nonstick skillets in a few sizes (I recommend an 8- and 12-inch, but a 10-incher is a good compromise if you just want to get one). And a set is worth considering; if you actually need all the pieces included, you can't beat the value of a bundle!
